Let’s start this week’s column off with a bang – Sunday, the 17th of January was the biggest Sunday the Mountain has ever seen! Hosting the Atlantic Cup Races, World Snow Day, Teachers’ Appreciation and Outdoor Elements Super Demo Weekend – Sunday surely was a great day!
If you haven’t heard, we’ve stepped it up a notch with our shuttle service from the bottom of the Mountain. The lower parking lot expansion was only half the equation; we still had to find a way to shuttle guests from the bottom to the top. We think we’ve done so in style. We are currently leasing a 16 passenger mini-bus, with wheel chair accessibility. We’re calling this “the POLEY MOBILE” – for real. Last Sunday, the 17th, we shuttled 1,045 guests up the Mountain from the lower park lot. That’s nuts!
In the event you are not aware of some of our weekly promotions, let me take a minute to share a few with you. Mondays and Tuesdays we sell 2 for 1 full day lift tickets; not many of us prefer to ski/snowboard alone, so this weekly promo should help get some of you out with a friend. For those of you looking to get your legs back under you for the season, or perhaps run a busy schedule and can’t afford a full day, Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays we feature our 4-hour lift tickets. From the time you purchase the lift ticket, you can ski/snowboard for a period of 4 hours at a reduced rate. I should also remind people of our Steak N Ski night, which is every Thursday from 4-9pm. For more details please visit poleymountain.com/promotions. Please note that weekly promotions are not valid during Christmas and March Break.
As of this week we have a few new promotions to speak of as well; (1) Ski & Stay with Friends Package includes 2 adult lift tickets and 1 night’s accommodation at the Amsterdam Inn & Suites, and (2) We are offering 25% off full day lift tickets to Brookvale Provincial Ski Park season pass holders in Prince Edward Island. If you happen to have family and/or friends a-far who like to ski/snowboard, please be sure to share these two promotions with them.
Something new from our Snow School department and sure to provide you with a new “skiing” experience – we’re hosting “Telemark Tips” Thursday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm for the next 3 weeks (Jan. 28th, Feb. 4th and Feb. 11th). If you are a skier and happen to enjoy trying new things, this should fit the bill. For more details call Snow School at 433-7669.
Next week I will be able to fill you in on our Grand Opening Celebrations from Saturday, January 23rd. Some of you have also been asking about our Annual Charity Auction. Each year we select a charity of choice to support with our fundraising efforts. This season we will be supporting Operation Back-Up; a fundraiser for ourselves to pay for the back-up generator we require which did not make it into the budget for the new building. We have set the date for the Charity Auction as Saturday, February 27th. The nitty gritty details are yet to be determined; however, you can expect some live music and a silent auction during supper, followed by the live auction with no other than Mr. William Anderson himself as your auctioneer. Stay tuned for further information as it becomes available.
Thank you for your time and I look forward to next week.
