Many have been asking what’s on tap for February. So let me give you a preview, in no particular order…
Couples Night and Family Night both return the weekend of February 19th and 20th, respectively. Couples Night runs 4-9pm, Friday February 19th, with lift tickets and rentals and lift tickets only packages available. Friday nights are also Wing Night in the Bar & Grill (4-9pm) and Trusty Shoes, toted as “the best band ever to play at Poley” takes center stage from 7-11pm. This is sure to be a great night!
Family Night has been even more popular than Couples Night, and is set for Saturday February 20th from 4-9pm. Again, there are lift tickets and rental packages, and lift tickets only. We wouldn’t want you to leave any little ones at home; add an additional 1-2 children, also at a reduced rate.
Who doesn’t love Valentine’s Day? Ha ha - We have a great evening planned for Saturday, February 13th. If you haven’t seen our ad in the KCR, we have an assortment of menu options to choose from, including Bacon Wrapped Haddock (I’m intrigued), Steak Dinner (yum), Grilled Pork Chop or Tomato Basil Shrimp Linguine (intrigued again). Decisions – decisions. Dinner is available from 3-10pm and the music portion of the evening will be provided by The Instigators from 6-10pm.
February 14th we are hosting a Rail Jam by none other than the East Coast Lifestyle crew. We are proud to have been selected as one of their stops around the Country this season. Other stops include Crabbe Mountain, Martock in Nova Scotia, Banff Alberta, with the finals to be hosted at Wentworth in Nova Scotia. There are many prizes up for grabs, including clothing sponsorships, cash, and clothing packages. I hope to have more details on this event very soon.
We have a number of disabled skiers who participate in the sport at Poley Mountain. These individuals belong to an organization referred to as CADS, which is short for Canadian Association for Disabled Skiers. Monthly, the CADS group joins us for a day on the Mountain, and lunch in the Bar & Grill. Annually, they host their Fundraising BBQ here at Poley, and we would like to give an extra shout-out to everyone to let you know this year’s BBQ is being held Sunday, February 21st. Come on out to Poley that day for a burger and a great cause!
And finally, I will touch on our Annual Fundraising Dinner and Dance, to be held Saturday, February 27th from approximately 4-10pm. We are adding some live music this year to kick off the event from 4-7pm by Gary Morris and Crossroads, as well as a silent auction addition this year from 4-6pm. Roast Beef dinner, including shrimp or scallop appetizer, main course, dessert and a beverage, will be served around 6pm with the Live Auction portion of the evening getting underway around 7pm. To reserve tickets and/or donate an item, please contact our Administration office at 433-7668 or firstname.lastname@example.org
Thank you! Next week I hope to share with you how our Ski Patrol made out attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the most people making snow angels simultaneously across the Country, set for Saturday, February 6th at 2pm in the Beginner Area.
